The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Interactive Innovation Forum sponsored by Chinese Academy of Sciences Holdings Co., Ltd. (CASH) and the First Green City & Environmental Protection Forum was held on Nov. 28 and 29, 2015. Bai Chunli, the CAS President, attended the opening ceremony and gave a welcoming speech. Over 300 delegates from domestic and foreign institutions, government organizations, representatives of industry, research agencies, financial institutions, and industry experts attended the forum. Sixteen media agencies, including Xinhua News Agency, Guangming Daily, and Science and Technology Daily, participated in the forum.

In his speech, Mr. Bai Chunli pointed out that he hoped that the Interactive Innovation Forum can be continuously held and the content be deepened so as to foster a high level series forum, to build an effective mechanism to promote open resource sharing, deep cooperation, and coordinated development among institutes inside and outside CAS, and to develop a superior platform for economic and technological integration, and technology transfer and industrialization. Bai also pointed out he hoped that the forthcoming establishment of the CAS Green City Industrial Alliance would uphold the idea of open cooperation, further promote coordinated innovation. Through in-depth cooperation among the government, industry, academia, research, and application, the effective integration of innovation and industry will be effectively carried out, thus contributing to China’s ecological civilization and sustainable development.

Deng Maicun, CAS Secretary General, and Song Zhiping, Chairman of China National Building Material Group, and Dave Jones, President of Silicon Valley Bank Asia, and Wu Lebin, CASH chairman were invited to the Opening Ceremony. They made keynote speeches centering on CAS industrialization, market-oriented reform of state-owned capital and operation, technology financing & investment, construction of the canal system between the ocean of knowledge and the ocean of capital. The CAS Green City Industrial Alliance award ceremony was held after the opening ceremony. The Alliance was led by CASH’s subsidiary China Sciences Group (CSG). It was the sixth CAS technological innovation and industrialization alliance promoted by CASH.

The First Green City & Environmental Protection Forum was held on the afternoon of Nov. 28 and 29. Renowned scholars, government representatives and industry representatives in environmental sector from mainland China, Taiwan, and Denmark exchanged green urban planning experience and advanced environmental protection concepts and technologies while combining green and low-carbon development from China and other countries.

The CAS Interactive Innovation Forum relies on CAS science and technology and human resources advantages, focuses on the integration of innovation, industry and capital, and unites the leading talents in scientific community, industry, and the financial sectors to create a high-end platform for idea exchange, strategic planning, and cooperation. It will play the role of think tank of technology industry, and actively promote the innovation-driven development strategy by creating a favorable innovation environment with deep integration of technology and economy, so as to boost China’s economic restructuring and industrial upgrading.
