“The 2nd UK-China Innovation and Technology Transfer Workshop”is co-hosted by CASH and CBBC in London

The 2nd UK-China Innovation and Technology Transfer Workshop" was co-hosted by  the Chinese Academy of Sciences Holdings (CASH) and the China Britain Business Council (CBBC) on March 21st in London.

Mr Jiangsu Nan, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, the Right Honorable Lord Willetts, former Minister of State for Universities and Science, and Dr Chen Xiaofeng, Vice President of CASH, were invited to deliver keynote speeches. Speakers from China and the UK also gave presentations on topics of the innovation policy and cooperation on technology transfer in the early stage.

More than 20 Chinese participants from more than 10 research institutes and technology transfer organizations, (including the Institute of Computing Technology, the Institute of Automation, the Changchun Institute of Optics, the Institute of Biophysics, the Institute of Microelectronics, the Tianjin Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, the National Center for Nanoscience and Suzhou Institute of Nano, the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, the Shanghai Xinwei Sci&Tech Development Co., Ltd., and the Sinoipro IP Management and Technology Transfer Co., Ltd.) were in attendance.  More than 30 British participants from the technology transfer departments of UK universities (including the University of Cambridge, the University of Manchester, and University College London), legal consulting organizations (such as Innovation UK) and industrial research institutes (such as Nesta) attended the conference. After the presentation sessions, participants from China and the UK started group discussions in pairs on potential cooperation in technology transfer and intellectual property. After the conference, the Chinese delegation visited some well-known UK-based incubators (such as England Level39 and Cocoon) and British academic institutions (such as the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Imperial College of London ,etc.).

In 2015, CASH and CBBC signed the MOU as Strategy Partnership. The two organizations are trying to establish a sustainable platform between China and the UK for technology transfer and IP cooperation, so as to promote technology transfer in both China and the UK.
